With over 30 years of experience, Michael has held senior roles across the superannuation and financial services industries. He has previously served as the CEO of ESSSuper, VicSuper, and CareSuper, demonstrating his extensive leadership and strategic expertise.
Michael's superannuation journey began at ESSSuper, where he initially served as the CFO before being appointed CEO, a position he held for two and a half years. He then transitioned to VicSuper as their CEO in 2011, where he led the organisation through significant growth and development. Following his tenure at VicSuper, Michael took on the role of Executive Consultant of Group Development at First State Super, and later, Executive Consultant of Corporate Development at Aware Super.
Michael has also held various senior positions, including General Manager, Finance at TRUenergy Australia, and Financial Controller at GE Money. His diverse experience in these roles have equipped him with a robust understanding of financial management and corporate governance.
Michael's educational background includes a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Adelaide. He is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, underscoring his commitment to professional development and industry excellence.
In February 2025, he was appointment to the IFS Board, recognising his extensive expertise and contributions to the field.
