About the Conference

The IFS Advice Conference 2024 is the only dedicated event for financial advice teams working in the superannuation industry, a unique opportunity to tackle complex challenges and learn from peers and subject matter experts.

With the convergence of focus from both the implementation of the Retirement Income Covenant and Quality of Advice Review, all eyes are on the advice strategies and advice functions of super funds to play a greater role in helping members prepare for and retire with confidence. This year’s event will centre on our need to be much more focused on ensuring there is a clear outcome in mind when we consider the role of advice in super. Whether we are talking about client engagement skills, operating processes or licensee standards, being clear about the problem/opportunity we are responding to, and the outcome we are seeking is critical.

Following the conference, there is a celebratory dinner where we will recognise the outstanding contributions of our fund advice teams, including the announcement of winners for the annual IFS Advice Excellence Awards.

As funds gear up to meet the demands of the Retirement Income Covenant with innovative products, the role for advice teams is set to transform. Two opposing views will take centre stage, battling it out for victory—a showdown judged by our audience.

Technology: Friend Or Foe For An Adviser?
There is no disputing that technology has disrupted our lives significantly, and mostly for the better. Food production, health services, transport, and communication look very different now compared to a decade or two ago. Yet, for financial advice and education, we haven’t been as quick to disrupt ourselves, unsure of how innovation in a highly regulated environment is best supported at scale. This session will shine a spotlight on where progress has been made, focusing on how technology is beginning to change advice production, delivery, and assurance activities. We will also hear from IFS on the work they are doing to design a help platform of the future.

Moderator: Maureen Daley
Panel: Kerry Ong (Iress), Samantha Clarke (Advice Regtech) and Adrian Gervasoni (IFS)
