How advice works

Although, there is no 'one rule' or 'one plan' that fits everyone because financial situations and goals are very personal and unique to every individual, the steps involved in obtaining financial advice will generally follow the process below.

Book an appointment

Find a Financial Adviser in your super fund

You will be asked some initial questions to identify what kind of advice you may require, gather your details and arrange an appointment in a way that is most convenient for you, including meeting with your Financial Adviser in person, over the phone or online.


You will receive a Financial Services Guide (FSG) to inform you about the services we provide. You will be asked to collate some of your important information and financial documents (e.g. financial statements, payslips, superannuation statements) before your initial appointment. This will help the Financial Adviser understand your current situation and better plan for your future.

Your initial appointment

The purpose of this meeting is to take time to understand your current situation, goals for the future and to identify areas where you can most benefit from receiving personalised advice. 

Once it is determined that you would benefit from personal advice, you will receive a fixed price quote on what the cost is. You can then decide if you want to go ahead.

We will only suggest you seek personal advice if we are confident that it will put you in a better position and is in your best interests to do so.

Financial Advice presentation appointment

Your Financial Adviser will analyse your requirements then arrange to present your personal advice recommendations. All our recommendations will be in writing, in the form of a Statement of Advice. Your Financial Adviser will explain each recommendation and how they will help you achieve your goals.

Implementing your Advice

Your Financial Adviser can then help you implement your advice. This includes completing the applications and paperwork required to action your decisions and lodging them with the appropriate providers.
